Projects
What we do
Raíces Colectivas will engage in a range of activities aimed at educating and sharing with the general public the myriad of ways in which social actors within marginalized populations have organized their own spaces of learning in order to regenerate their social fabric, foregrounding the knowledge of the elders, promoting intercultural dialogue and forging alternatives to wage-labor. Raíces Colectivas’ educational activities will take the form of workshops, conferences, reading materials (flyers/pamphlets/booklets), documentaries/videos, and community forums. Raíces Colectivas’ primary commitment is to uphold the integrity of participating communities in struggle by joining them in co-creating definitions, collaborating in education projects that are deemed essential by the population, and providing numerous paths for activism and awareness. The development of Raíces Colectivas’ educational programs will happen almost entirely from the San Francisco Bay/East Bay Area, where our staff and volunteers work. However, international work is anticipated from areas of the world that the organization is currently supporting. |
Raíces Colectivas engages in a handful of activities aimed at bringing to the forefront the work of autonomous, emancipatory projects in education developed by marginalized populations, both nationally and internationally, with the purpose of raising awareness regarding the challenges, inequities and financial difficulties faced by these communities. Raíces Colectivas is committed to expediting financial support collected through fundraising in order to facilitate the development of educational laboratories/programs, and to assist in the implementation of grants and scholarships, geared towards teachers and students, respectively. This collaboration is established on the bases of agreements made in conjunction with the communities that are being supported. The development of Raíces Colectivas’ fundraising campaigns happen almost entirely in the San Francisco Bay/East Bay Area, and on online crowdfunding sites. |
